KTCCCA State

The KTCCCA state is tomorrow (10/22).  This meet is huge, therefore plan ahead and leave enough time to get to where you need to be.  Don't forget to check out the course maps, directions and race details on the right side of this blog under 'Meet of Champions'.

TEAM TENT ... Once you get to the meet, look for the HLS tent to check in with Coach.  Once the tent is set up prior to the first race, I will post a description on this blog as the location.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS ... Tomorrow is not going to be quite as warm as we expected earlier this week, however please DO NOT overdress your child.  Their uniform should be fine ... maybe a shirt under if your runner has an early race.  IF you choose to put clothing under your runner's uniform, don't forget that officials will be checking and will be disqualifying non-conforming runners from this meet.  That means HLS can only have plain long-sleeved white shirts under uniforms and plain black tights.  Any hat or ear warmer is acceptable.  Instead, layer them, so that they can strip their clothes off and hand them to you in stages ... their top layer should be shed after they walk the course and return to their tent for last minute drinks and bathroom break, their final layer should be shed at the starting line right before they race.

Their temperature will warm up quickly once they start running and if you have tons of layers on them, they will not perform to their best ability.  You may feel quite cool on the sideline, but remember your runner will be moving a bunch once the gun goes off.  My suggestion is to have someone from your family or a friend standing behind the starting line ready for your runner to do a last minute strip of clothing right before the official calls the runners to start.

TONIGHT PLANS ... should include a simple carb meal (like pasta) for tonight's dinner.  Take a look at the course map (on the right side of the blog) with your runner to help them familiarize themselves with the race.  A good night's rest is the other key ingredient to success.

Best of luck to each of our runners!
